Trial format
Two hours, five parts
- 1Warm-upLed by a coach. Nobody is assessed yet.
- 2Ball controlPairs and triangles. Passing and setting platform, footwork to the ball.
- 3All-skillsServe receive, defence and setting in rotation. Everyone does every role.
- 4Hitting linesApproach, timing and shot choice from all positions, against a block.
- 5GamesSix-a-side sets with mixed teams. Where coachability and team spirit show.

Plus coachability and team spirit. How you take feedback, how you talk to teammates when a set goes wrong. Coaches score these separately and they decide close calls.
Eligible for more than one age group?
Trial for both. Tick each division on the form and we'll schedule you so the sessions don't clash. Youth players can be selected for an SVL side as well as YSVL.
The callback session
If coaches need another look — usually for the last two or three spots in a team — you're invited to a shorter second session two weeks later. Not being called back isn't a bad sign; most selections are made on the first day.

Registration is free. We email the full running order, what to bring and your check-in time a week before. Under 18s need a parent or guardian to register.
If you miss out
Straight into the Development Program
Every player who trials and isn't selected gets a guaranteed place in the next block, with their trial notes handed to the program coaches. Most players make a team on their second trial.
